About

The primary function of this division is to ensure GRIC K-12 student success. This division is headed by the Community Educator, who works closely with the 11 on-reservation schools as well as the outlying local K-12 schools where students who live within GRIC jurisdiction attend.
One initiative in place to maximize student success is reservation school unification, which involves: maintaining open communication among the institutions, tribal leaders, and the Department; coordinating quarterly curriculum objective alignment workshops; soliciting the needs of reservation school faculty in this regard; collaborating with the schools and the Community to minimize truancy; and monitoring the schools’ performance for compliance with the tribal donation resolution.
This division is also working closely with the MIS department to develop a student tracking mechanism that will allow databases in the schools where GRIC students attend (both on- and off- reservation and including the off-reservation boarding schools), and tribal district, court, and administrative offices to communicate.
Also, this division oversees the Johnson O’Malley Program and promotes the Summer Bridge Program at ASU East, and GED classes in the community.
